Huhtikuussa kuudennen kokopitkän studioalbuminsa "The Quantum Enigma” julkaissut Alankomaista ponnistava Epica saapuu hellimään tärykalvoja Nosturille huhtikuussa 2015. "The Quantum Enigma" on yhtyeen intensiivisin ja tunteikkain julkaisu tähän mennessä. Onkin sanottu, että levy kuulostaa jopa elämää suuremmalta. Kitaristi/solisti Mark Jansen:in mukaan levy on lopputulos yhtyeen lisääntyneestä ja entistään tiivistyneestä yhteistyöstä. Epica on tunnettu vaihtelevaisuudestaan eikä yksikään albumi kuullosta samalta. Tämän tietää myös hevikatraan vannoutunut fanikansa. Ehkäpä juurikin tästä syystä he ovat menestystä takoneet ympäri maailmaa ja tehnyt muun muassa yhteiskiertueen Yhdysvaltalaisen Kamelotin kanssa vierailtuaan toistensa levyillä.
Epica päätti viiden onnistuneen albumin jälkeen yhteistyönsä tuottaja Sascha Paeth:in kanssa. Jotta yhtye pääsisi haistelemaan uusia tuulia, päätyivät he nauhoittamaan "The Quantum Enigman" Joost van den Broekin kanssa Sandlane Recording Facilities:ssä Alankomaissa. Albumi on myös yhtyeen ensimmäisen yhteistyö miksaaja Jacob Hansen:in (Volbeat, Hatesphere, Amaranthe) kanssa.
