Iranilaisen Nassim Soleimanpourin kansainvälistä menestystä niittänyttä näytelmää Valkoinen Kani, Punainen Kani ei harjoitella, eikä siinä ole ohjaajaa. Näyttelijä vaihtuu joka ilta, ja käsikirjoitus odottaa lavalla sinetöidyssä kirjekuoressa. Se on uskalias näyttämöllinen koe ja vahva muistutus teatterin mullistavasta ja vastahankaisesta voimasta.
Soleimanpouria on kielletty lähtemästä kotimaastaan, ja siksi hän kirjoitti näytelmän, joka saattoi matkata ympäri maailman hänen sijastaan. Yleisö lähtee aina uuden esiintyjän kanssa kohti tuntematonta, päätyen syvän henkilökohtaisten tuntojen äärelle ja vapauden ja teatterin mahdollisuuksien rajamaille. Vuonna 2011 kahdella mantereella yhtä aikaa kantaesitetty näytelmä on sittemmin käännetty kuudelletoista eri kielelle, ja sitä on esitetty yli 200 kertaa. Monet teatteri- ja elokuvamaailman suuret nimet, kuten John Hurt, Simon McBurney, Stephen Rea, Sinead Cusack, Marcus Brigstocke ja Ken Loach, ovat esiintyneet siinä.
