Toukokuussa Deep Purple -tribuuttialbuminsa julkaiseva Whitesnake saapuu marraskuussa The Purple -kiertueellaan Suomeen. David Coverdalen luotsaama Whitesnake esiintyy Helsingin Jäähallissa keskiviikkona 11. marraskuuta.
Whitesnake vietti vielä vuoden 2013 kiertäen ympäri maailmaa ”Forevermore”-levyn tiimoilta, mutta viime vuoden yhtye pyhitti 12. studioalbuminsa työstämiseen. Pitkän työn tulos päästään kuulemaan toukokuussa, kun ”The Purple Album” julkaistaan. Levy tekee tutkimusmatkan David Coverdalen aikaiseen Deep Purple –tuotantoon ja mukana ovat mm. uutta energiaa saaneet ”Burn”, ”Lady Double Dealer”, ”Soldier of Fortune” ja ”Sail Away”. Whitesnaken nykyiseen kokoonpanoon kuuluvat Coverdalen lisäksi kitaristit Reb Beach ja Joel Hoekstra, basisti Michael Devin sekä rumpali Tommy Aldridge.
”Uusi albumi on minun kunnianosoitukseni Deep Purplelle ja mahdollisuudelle, joka minulle annettiin yli 40 vuotta sitten. Yhtye otti minut mukaan mielettömälle matkalle, joka on jatkunut aina näihin päiviin asti ja en voisi kuvitella parempia opettajia. Deep Purple oli ainutlaatuinen ja mahtava koulu musiikin maailmaan. En malta odottaa, että pääsemme soittamaan näitä kappaleita keikoillamme”, kertoo David Coverdale.
David Coverdale perusti Whitesnaken vuonna 1978 lähdettyään Deep Purplesta vuonna 1976. Yhtye on tehnyt näyttävän matkan ”Trouble”, ”Lovehunter”, ”Ready And Willing” ja ”Come An’ Get It” -albumien raskaasta bluesrock-poljennosta ”Slide It In” ja vuoden 1987 ”Whitesnake” -levyjen räjähtävään hardrock-soundiin. Bändin levyt ovat nousseet listaykkösiksi Atlantin molemmin puolin ja niiltä löytyvät biisit - kuten ”Don’t Break My Heart Again”, ”Here I Go Again”, “Is This Love” ja ”Fool For Your Loving” - ovat kaikki laskettavissa klassisen rockin kulmakiviksi. Tulevalla kiertueella Whitesnake soittaa Deep Purple -tribuuttibiisien ohella myös suurimmat hittinsä.
Whitesnaken Helsingin konsertin järjestävät yhteistyössä Live Nation Finland ja Eastway Live.
