Description
Tyylillisesti teos liikkuu mustan huumorin ja tragedian välisellä harmaalla alueella; jossakin kuvataiteen, tanssin, sirkuksen ja teatterin välimaastossa. Cutting Edge kysyy mistä ihminen rakentuu ja mikä on kehon ja mielen välinen suhde. Mitä voimme ymmärtää ihmisyydestä pureutumalla inhimillisen julmuuden ja epäinhimillisyyden ytimeen?

Decapitation, perhaps the cruellest and most inhumane of all acts, is an inherent aspect of European history and culture. It is also the oldest known illusion performed by magicians. Cutting Edge draws on historical paintings, stories and myths in which necks are severed and heads are separated from bodies. 17th century paintings create a backdrop on the stage for simplified minimalistic punk aesthetics that together create a visually powerful and boundary-breaking performance.
Stylistically, the work plays within the grey area between black humour and tragedy, flirting with painting, dance, circus arts and drama. Cutting Edge studies the composition of the human form and the relationship between body and mind. What can we learn about humanity by delving into the core of human cruelty and inhumanity?
